It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a chance to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it's been a frustrating experience because I feel like my form was missing completely," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the contest."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from there the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
