Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the pair.

Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his deep grief.

"Adequate time has gone by that I can at last put my grief into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he could not remember "any day without mirth".

"This story is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob valued immensely. Which is among the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.

He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."

Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator

In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.

"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.

Scorsese pointed out Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.

"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed

Recently, a Los Angeles court official decided to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, at the request from the LAPD.

A court order issued a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the active case.

The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Response and Criticism

In the wake of the deaths, public figures expressed varying responses.

Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering provocative statements that were broadly criticized by several public figures.

Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a worrisome lack of empathy.

Rogan concluded by proposing that an aide could have intervened when the decision to speak on the tragedy was made.
