Palestinian-American Adolescent Freed After Nine-Month Period in Israel's Custody

A American-Palestinian teenager who spent nine months in Israel's custody without charge was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 at the time of his arrest last February throughout the West Bank territory, where he was visiting while residing in Florida accused of stone-throwing at Jewish settlers, claims he consistently denied.

United States authorities said it welcomed Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

According to them, he appears showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues developed during imprisonment.

In a statement, family spokesperson conveyed their "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, we are focused on getting Mohammed prompt healthcare necessary for his recovery after being subjected to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions for months."

The state department stated they would maintain to extend consular services for the Ibrahim family.

{"The Trump Administration considers paramount to the protection and welfare of American nationals"," it added.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to US authorities and the White House, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four managing a frozen treats business in Florida, previously said his child admitted guilt about rock throwing because the soldiers beat him.

He had not seen nor direct contact since February, learning information solely regarding the treatment in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

The facility also contains adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted of serious terrorism offences including killings.

There are around several hundred young Palestinian detainees being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.
