Bouldering in the Peak District

This historic hillside village, a picturesque town in Andalucía, about 45 minutes’ drive from Granada, is the breathtaking location for this creative getaway. Painters of all abilities – even beginners – will discover how to plan and create modern art. Some time will be spent outside, working on structured activities out in nature. These charcoal drawings and paintings will then be expanded upon in the studio, with attendees producing several abstract landscapes in acrylics to be displayed in the local community. Participants has sole use of the hotel, which is centered on an central patio and has a sun terrace with views over the hills. The price covers five days of art instruction; full board; and an outing to the local castle and other local sights.

Plant-Based Culinary in Portugal

This sun-drenched cooking retreat, based at a riverside villa in the central Algarve, is draws inspiration from the vegetarian dishes of celebrated cooks. Participants will learn to produce selection of small dishes, take part in a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes trips to the local market and a nearby winery to taste Portuguese wines, along with leisure time for walks by the nearby river, to relax on the terrace or swim in the pool. The accommodation, a former farmhouse, has five bedrooms, plus glamping tents in the grounds.

Street Dance in Buckinghamshire

Hip Hop Don’t Stop is an energizing, inclusive three-day dance intensive for adults in High Wycombe. The daily schedule each day is a high-energy group warmup, then several 90-minute workshops covering different street dance styles, then an hour-long jam to demonstrate new moves. Dancers are split into groups according to ability and experience, so it is perfect for those who are brand new to street dance, right up to experienced performers or instructors. The camp doesn’t include accommodation but there are several places to stay nearby, and it is under an hour by rail into central London.

Maritime Singing Break in Cornwall

This coastal town is the excellent location for a maritime music retreat. Participants will learn historic sailing songs from a experienced musician, and have a go at writing their own. The schedule includes voice exercises, breathing exercises, stagecraft advice and a final evening concert. The holiday is based at a rural hotel with views of St Ives Bay. All meals are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on the first day, breakfast options, lunches to go and evening meals. Traditional rum, alas, is not provided. Writing in Crete

Writer and lecturer an experienced instructor conducts the regular sessions on this authors' getaway. He covers everything from plot, character development, locations and tension, to submitting work to publishers. Greg’s wife, the bestselling author Kate Mosse, will co-host events at the start and finish of the week. The holiday is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the foot of the White mountains – 10 one- and two-bedroom cottages surround a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to come along). On the final evening, budding authors celebrate with a musical performance in the garden and a final meal.

Introduction to Beekeeping in Mid Wales

The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a wide range of programs on sustainability: from wildlife gardening to making pallet furniture. This two-day introduction will help attendees understand the fundamentals of apiary management, study the life cycle of bees and discover their environmental benefits. It is aimed at produce “bee-friendly beekeepers”. The weekend is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's carefully maintained forests, which are home to polecats, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and uncommon bird species. Bed and breakfast the night before is £80, and all meals and lodging for the weekend is 97 pounds.

Sailing for Novices in the Blackwater Estuary

These new summer sailing weekends are spent on Wayfarers and Dufours on the Blackwater estuary. They are aimed at novice sailors learning the ropes or those with some knowledge who want a refresher. Sailors can improve their helming, build their nautical skills and work towards the recognized certification levels in a supportive atmosphere. There are non-residential and overnight packages, with accommodation in simple dorms in the waterfront sailing school. The non-residential package provides lunches, while the overnight option includes two nights’ accommodation and full board, from full English breakfasts to BBQ dinners.
